The Summer Celebration began in 2000 when the newly formed Estacada Area Arts Commission recognized the opportunity to celebrate the annual creation of the ArtBack's amazing "Mural-in-a-Weekend" project.  All the ingredients were present - a large vacant lot, a new portable city stage, and rare, fascinating public art in the making. Add people and high quality music and a great community celebration was born!

The event, presented by the Estacada Area Arts Commission and Estacada Together, has grown with the addition of Sunday's music and community worship service, the children and family Art Activity booths, a juried Art Fair, a Silent Art Auction and our brand new Music Crawl event. We celebrate the unique, diverse flavor of our community with our ever-growing festive decorations---hand-painted banners, flags, and signs.

With the generous support of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Regional Arts and Culture Council, the Clackamas County Cultural Coalition, and the donations of wonderful local businesses and individuals, we have been able to keep the Celebration free! You can participate in this wonderful, community building event by donating or volunteering.

The Goals of the Summer Celebration are to:
  • foster a sense of positive community spirit
  • provide wholesome cultural opportunities for youth and families
  • encourage community participation and collaboration through the arts
  • create an awareness of local and regional artistic talent
  • support the ArtBack, our local artists' cooperative
  • add to the energized downtown core with an inspired sense of community pride and beautification
  • help build a community exposed to diverse cultures and a variety of art forms
  • allow residents and visitors to experience Estacada in new ways
  • provide an opportunity for a whole bunch of people to have a whole bunch of fun!
