Events - Garfield Skip-A-Week Quilt Show
Skip-A-Week Quilt Club joins Estacada Summer Celebration
The 19th annual Quilt Show presented by Garfield Skip-A-Week Quilt Club will be held at the Estacada High School on NE 6th Ave. from 10 am to 5 pm on Friday and Saturday July 25 & 26. The show is free or donations accepted.
There will be over 100 quilts on display, mostly hand-quilted. There will also be demonstrations, Sales, door prizes, refreshments, and a special "build-a-block for charity table".
The "build-a-block for charity table" will have opportunities for everyone to design blocks to be used for so many in need - such as our veterans in the hospital, abused children's home in Oregon City, the pregnancy centers in Estacada and Sandy, victims of fire and loss, hospice programs and many more.
Garfield Skip-A-Week Quilt Club, which began in 1921 in the Garfield community, has grown from a few members meeting in homes to a large group renting the Garfield Grange. Many of today's quilters are related to the founding members. It is the oldest documented club in Oregon.
And they no longer skip a week. The club meets every Wednesday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and most Wednesday evenings. Dues are $1 per year. The members hand quilt for others for a fee and make and donate Christmas stockings for the needy and lap quilts for nursing homes.
